BRMB

|
Football obsessed Tom Ross is the award winning head
of sport at BRMB and Master of Ceremonies for various
events at Des Blee's events.
Born & bred in Aston, Tom has been the voice of football
in Birmingham for a generation, joining BRMB over 24
years ago its hard to imagine that Tom started off in life
as an electrician. After joining BRMB in '81, Tom achieved
his dream to be Head of Birmingham Sport in 1994 and
has since won numerous awards and been a finalist in
the Sony Radio Awards and New York Radio Awards,
winning bronze in the former in 1999 for
Sports Broadcaster of the Year.
|
A big Birmingham City fan, Toms career highlight so
far has to be when
he became the first ever radio presenter to broadcast from the bench
at
Wembley, during the Leyland Daf Cup Final in 1992. Lou Macari smuggled
him in as a physio in a tracksuit, with his headphones in a bucket!.
Sport dominates Tom's life outside of work. He is player/manager
of the
Blues All Stars, a team of ex-Birmingham City players who play at charity
football matches. They have raised in excess of £100,000 pounds
for local
charitable causes. When hes not playing football, Tom likes to
indulge in
some of his favourite music. He is a big fan of Bruce Springsteen and
also likes soul, Motown, reggae and just about any type of music, apart
from punk and jazz.
